We have organized our company to address the differing needs of the customers we serve. Our parent corporation, STAR Financial Group, Inc., headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is the holding company that owns STAR Financial Bank. STAR Insurance Agency is a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank and is headquartered in Columbia City, Indiana. Our reach extends from Angola to Indianapolis and primarily covers the market areas of Fort Wayne, Columbia City, Marion, Kokomo, Muncie, Anderson and Indianapolis.

Benefits Overview

AT STAR, your compensation extends beyond your pay. It includes a comprehensive package of benefits that provides an array of coverage and participation options. Any team member who works 30 or more hours per week is eligible to participate. Our package allows you to customize benefits according to your needs.

Health
Health Insurance programs include both traditional and Health Savings Account options. Employee contributions are on a pre-tax basis. Vision and Dental are optional add ons and can be included with either program.

401 (k)
Pre-tax and post-tax deposits options fund employee-directed investments in this retirement savings program along with a company match that is connected to an ESOP.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Pre-tax dollars can be set aside to pay child care expenses or out-of-pocket health care costs.

Long-Term Disability and Basic Life
Team members are required to participate in these contributory benefits.

STAR provides flexible time known as Managed Time Off (MTO) for vacations, personal absence, and short-term periods of illness.

Each year 8 ½ paid holidays are observed by STAR.

Participants in this generous program are pursuing Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degrees in job-related disciplines. Included are traditional, LEAP, and online programs of study.

Professional Development

Learning Days
Twice each year every team member participates in planned Learning Days that address company knowledge, job skills, and techniques that make individuals more effective employees and the business a more effective provider of financial services.

Compliance Education
All team members participate in industry-sponsored education programs each year that provide insight into topics such as fraud prevention, privacy issues, security, prevention of sexual harassment, and many others.

Continuing Education
Continuing Education opportunities are available through STAR Academy as well as outside professional organizations. Team members, with management approval, participate to increase professional skills and obtain or continue certifications and professional designations.

Compensation

It is the philosophy of STAR to reflect the median of the market for Northeast Indiana. Objectives of the program are: pay competitive salaries based on similar jobs in comparable organizations, link pay to job performance, and administer compensation consistently and equitably.

Staffing Process

The steps outlined below are generally observed but may vary depending upon the line of business you are considering.

1. Visitors should search and express interest in the positions in which he/she is interested, posses the skills, and match the minimum requirements of the job.


2. The instructions listed on each posted job must be followed to be considered.

3. Recruiter reviews and identifies those candidates whose skills and experiences match the job requirements, as detailed. 

4. The candidates who have the experience and skills that best match the role will be selected to continue through the process.

5. Individuals chosen to move forward in the interview process will be notified by a STAR team member with next steps.

6. Note: All positions require some level of candidate assessment during the selection process.

7. The interview/screening process varies with each opportunity. The recruiter will communicate the process and the interview timeline for the position.

8. If an offer is extended, a thorough background check including criminal record, employment history, and education, among others, is performed for all external hires. You will also be required to undergo a drug screen and complete an I-9 form. 

9. If a candidate is not selected to continue in the hiring process for a particular job opening, the candidate is encouraged to continue to search the STAR career site and apply for other positions that fit his/her background and experience.
