Watch Out for These Holiday Scams

The holiday season is a prime time for fraud. Here are three common scams we see:

  1. Phishing Emails & Texts
Fraudsters send messages pretending to be from trusted companies or banks, asking you to click links or provide personal information.
Tip: Never click on links or share sensitive details unless you’re sure the source is legitimate.

  2. Fake Online Shopping Deals
Scammers create websites or ads offering unbelievable discounts to steal payment details or never deliver the product.
Tip: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

  3. Gift Card Scams
Criminals pressure victims to pay for services or settle fake debts using gift cards, then steal the codes.
Tip: Real businesses will never ask you to urgently buy gift cards as payment. Gift cards are meant for gifts, not for paying others or handling emergencies.
Protect yourself:
  • Take a moment before acting. Scammers often try to create a sense of urgency, so you’ll make quick decisions without thinking. Pause, verify before you respond, and stay in control.
